Nicosia Goes Zero Waste
Erasmus+ Solidarity Project
Planning

The funding provided by the Erasmus+ Solidarity Project has significantly bolstered our initiative, presenting an invaluable opportunity for its continued expansion. Engaging in strategic team meetings to conceptualize the future trajectory of our initiative has not only been a practical exercise but has infused our team with a sense of optimism and purpose. Planning sessions have served as a catalyst for charting a course toward tangible goals:

  • Improve our current operations - installation of a permanent storage space.
  • Upscale the composting unit, and host workshops on its usage.
  • Connect with groups on fabric waste reduction and jointly combat both waste routes.
Storage Facility

Installing a storage facility enhanced our organizational efficiency by providing a dedicated space for the initiative's permanent assets while at the same time reducing the workload of our volunteers.

Clothing Swap

We invited our volunteers and followers to swap their clothes encouraging the circular economy model by extending the lifespan of clothing items. Swapping clothes between community members encourages a sustainable lifestyle and fosters community belonging.

Composting 1-0-1

Through composting workshops we offered a hands-on experience in sustainable waste management, empowering participants with practical skills to turn kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich soil.

Upcycling Workshops

Alongside community fabric experts, we hosted three workshops on how to upcycle old clothes and fabrics into tote bags, scarfs and revitalising dull t-shirts.
